George Curtis

George began his education at Southern Utah University, where he received a BS in Physical Education in 1971. Additionally, he became a Licensed Radiology Technician at Weber State in 1990. His over 30 year long career has included serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Santa Ana College from 1971-1983, Head Athletic Trainer of the Los Angeles Express professional football team from 1983-1984, the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the SCAR clinic of Tustin, CA. in 1985, the Head Mens Athletic Trainer at Brigham Young University from 1985-1989, and the Head Athletic Trainer of Brigham Young University from 1989-present. 

In addition, George has always been active in promoting and supporting the profession of athletic training, with tenure in many capacities, including president of the Utah Athletic Trainers Association from 1999-2002, and the National Athletic Trainers Association College and University Committee for 6 years. He has also attended every state and national meeting held since 1989. George has been invaluable in his pursuit of licensure for athletic trainers in the state of Utah, defining both the role and expertise of an Athletic Trainer. 

George brings not only his vast knowledge and experience to the training room, but also his love for the athletes and fellow trainers. This enables him to fill many roles, such as friend, counselor, father figure, supporter, and fan. He is always willing to offer professional advice, but also offers a listening ear and his time to those in need. Hundreds of athletes, students, and colleagues have been guests in his home and victims to his home-made chili, as well as saddle sores from horseback rides up the canyon. 

With his selfless service and passion, George truly exemplifies the characteristics and traits of, and brings respect to the title of "Athletic Trainer".
