Award Criteria

  • The Utah Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame recognizes the most exceptional and influential athletic trainers whose careers have left a lasting legacy on the profession in Utah. Induction into the Hall of Fame honors individuals whose lifetime achievements reflect sustained excellence, pioneering leadership, and meaningful contributions that have shaped the direction of athletic training at the state, regional, and national levels. These individuals have not only advanced the profession but have also paved the way for future generations through innovation, advocacy, and an enduring commitment to the mission of the UATA. The Hall of Fame represents the pinnacle of professional recognition within the Utah athletic training community.

    Nomination Criteria

    Nominees must meet the following requirements, unless exempted by special considerations (see below):

    1. Member in good standing of the UATA for a minimum of 15 years

    2. Member in good standing of the NATA for a minimum of 20 years

    3. NATABOC certified athletic trainer

    4. Must have served on an UATA committee or BOD

    5. Three letters of recommendation (including one from the nominator)

    SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
    A UATA athletic trainer who has met the 15 year requirement, but has not served on the BOD, or on a committee, may be considered if he/she has given obvious outstanding service to the UATA in other ways AND they maintain BOC athletic training certification.

  • The UATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award is one of the highest honor bestowed by the Utah Athletic Trainers’ Association. This award recognizes a certified athletic trainer who has demonstrated exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to the advancement of the athletic training profession within the state of Utah. Honorees have made significant contributions through clinical excellence, professional involvement, mentorship, and advocacy. They are respected role models who embody the core values of the UATA and have positively influenced the athletic training community across Utah.

    Nomination Criteria

    Nominees must meet the following requirements:

    1. Member in good standing with the UATA

    2. Minimum of 5 years of Service

    3. Made contributions to the Athletic Training profession that has brought distinction to the UATA.

  • This award recognizes a certified athletic trainer who has made a significant impact in the secondary school setting. The recipient demonstrates strong commitment to the care of student-athletes and plays an important role in supporting the athletic and academic environment of their school. Their contributions reflect the values of the UATA and help elevate the role of athletic trainers in high school athletics.

    Nomination Criteria

    Nominees must meet the following requirements:

    1. Member in good standing with the UATA

    2. Minimum of 5 years of Service

    3. Made contributions to the Athletic Training profession that has brought distinction to the UATA.

  • This award honors a certified athletic trainer who has made a meaningful impact in the collegiate setting, whether through direct patient care, academic instruction, or program leadership. The recipient may serve student-athletes in an athletic department, teach and mentor future athletic trainers in a university program, or contribute in both areas. Their dedication reflects the mission of the UATA and highlights the essential role athletic trainers play in higher education and collegiate athletics.

    3. Made contributions to the Athletic Training profession that has brought distinction to the UATA.

  • This award recognizes a certified athletic trainer who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and contribution in a clinical setting. The recipient excels in providing patient care and advancing the profession through their work in healthcare environments. Their dedication reflects the values of the UATA and supports the growth and impact of athletic training within clinical practice.

    Nomination Criteria

    Nominees must meet the following requirements:

    1. Member in good standing with the UATA

    2. Minimum of 5 years of Service

    3. Made contributions to the Athletic Training profession that has brought distinction to the UATA.

  • The UATA Athletic Trainer Advocate Award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding support for athletic trainers and the profession. This award recognizes those who champion the needs, rights, and professional growth of athletic trainers through mentorship, collaboration, and active involvement in strengthening the athletic training community. Recipients are dedicated advocates who help ensure athletic trainers are valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

    Nomination Criteria

    This award is eligible for the non-athletic trainer. 

    1. Any person who has helped advocate for the profession of Athletic Training

      -or-

    2. Any person who has been influential in assisting with the Athletic Training practice
