Lisa Walker Receives UHSAA Distinguished Service Award

Lisa Walker, athletic trainer at Springville High School, recently received the Distinguished Service Award and Distinguished Contributor for 2011 from the Utah High School Activities Association.

In the presentation, they noted her numerous contributions to high school athletics, specifically Director of Weight Management for wrestling, Head Athletic Trainer at the 1A-5A State Wrestling Tournament since 1999, and Medical Coordinator for State Cross Country.  Walker also serves on the Sports Medicine Advisory Council (SMAC) for the state and is a major contact for the media regarding medical issues that involve youth.  Her dedication to youth safety has also found her working to develop legislation on protection of youth athletes with head injury.  It is clear Lisa Walker is very deserving of this award.
